Creative Writing with Adults
Courses - Workshops - Book Clubs
Writing Events
I have curated two creative writing events at The Sherborne. The first responded to the people & tales connected with the House and the second explored the ancient concept of Ekphrasis (or writing about works of art). The latter saw participants respond to the works of artists, Amanda Benson, Charlotte Hodes and Helen Sear during a day of workshops
Staff Teams
I can employ writing to help re-ignite the creativity and excitement in your organisation’s teams with stimulating writing workshops that will leave them refreshed and equipped with new ways of thinking about what they do. Or perhaps your teams would benefit from a writing for wellbeing workshop as a beneficial break in routine.
In February ‘25, I facilitated an afternoon of creative writing with the Clinical Team at New Forest Care. The event was focused on enabling the members of staff to think differently about the nature of what they do.
In September ‘25, I worked with the English Department at Bryanston to re-ignite their teaching of creative writing by re-thinking what and how they were teaching. Creative writing carries 50% of the English Language GCSE marks and making choices to move the classroom environment towards that of a writing workshop can make all the difference. Similarly, the English Literature GCSE content can be made both more accessible and enjoyable with the use of creative writing in its teaching.
Writing Courses
I have run courses for people wanting to refresh their knowledge of English Literature and to engage with it more deeply as well as to discover a range of creative writing opportunities.
Book Clubs
I have run afternoons and weekends for a range of book clubs. I have combined explorations of books with short creative writing exercises to deepen the engagement of club members.
